PUTRAJAYA 27 Jun - UPM's Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities has won the Main Award at MAPIM-KPM 2018 Award Function held at Marriott Hotel Putrajaya.
The award was won by lecturers from Faculty of Economics and Management UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Abdul Samad, Nur Syafiqah Abdul Rahim, Mohd Johari and Tanaka through a nominated article entitled “An Economic Valuation of Urban Green Spaces in Kuala Lumpur City” for Best Social Sciences and Humanities Journal Article Category.
Winners received cash price, plaque and certificate being presented by the Deputy Education Minister, YB Puan Teo Nie Ching who also officiated the event on behalf of Education Minister of Malaysia, YB Dr. Maszlee Malik.
The publisher, UPM Press also received cash price, plaque and certificate.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of UPM Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Idrus and Pertanika Chief Editorial Executive, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abu Bakar Salleh attended the event.
Malaysian Scholarly Publication Council (MAPIM) is an organisation that actively engage in scholarly and scientific publications in Malaysia. It has a total of 33 members consisting of local university publishers, research centres in Malaysia and Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka and allied members.
This award ceremony is one of the highly prestigious events held at the national level to recognise educational publications, writers, editors and designers among Malaysian Scholarly Publication Council (MAPIM) members.
Other award categories are Best Book Award (i) Social Sciences and Humanities, and (ii) Science, Technology and Medicine; Best Scientific Journal Article Award (i) Science, Technology & Medicine; Best Editor Award (i) Social Sciences and Humanities and (ii) Science, Technology and Medicine; Popular Scholarly Book Award; Edited Book Award and Best Book Cover Design.
