JAKARTA September 3rd: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Press participated in Indonesia International Book Fair 2019 (IIBF 2019) from 4th until 8th September 2019 at Hall A, Jakarta Convention Centre.
IIBF is an annual book exhibition organised by The Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI).
UPM Press joined the Malaysian delegation led by Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books. The delegation consisted of Malaysian Academic Publishing Council (MAPIM) members; UKM, UTM, UIA, UUM, USIM, UMT, UMS, UNIMAS, UPNM, Institute of Language and Literature (DBP) and Poly-tech MARA University College.
UPM Press was represented by Mr Mohd Rusdy Hasan, Head of Sales and Marketing Section, Mrs Nor Azila Azmi, Head of the Editorial and Production Section and Mrs Nur Ain Jumari, Assistant Publication Officer (Sales and Marketing).
The decision to go global and enter the international market is important for UPM Press to expand its network and introduce its products.
The book fair received overwhelming responses from visitors who also purchased books published by MAPIM members.
The Indonesian Publisher Association (IKAPI) together with the Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF) held a Kick Off “Indonesia Partnership Program” (IPP) intended to encourage collaboration and to boost copyright trade between Indonesian publishers and international publishers from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, Egypt, Germany, Philippines and South Korea.
The Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, TYT Tuan Zainal Abidin Bakar visited the Malaysian Booth on 5th September 2019.
Among other activities participated by the Malaysian delegates were discussion with Asosiasi Penerbit Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia (APPTI), attended Publishing Insight Seminar “Success Stories and Step Paths in Rights”, joined the trip to State Polytechnic of Creative Media (POLIMEDIA), and also joined the trips organised by IPP to Gramedia, Obor Foundation and The National Library of Indonesia.
