UPM Press Centre (PPUPM) recently took part in the Brunei Book Fair 2023, which took place at the Barakas International Conference Centre in Brunei Darussalam from August 21 to 23, 2023. Puan Herzadawati Mohd. Amjah and Encik Muhammad Hadhrami Arshad were assigned duties at the book fair hosted by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Brunei. During the book expo, Encik Muhammad Hadhrami was tasked with running the booth while Puan Herzadawati focused more on negotiating with Bruneian universities.
Two consultations, particularly those with the Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB)and Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), were fruitful. UNISSA has decided to collaborate with PPUPM on a publication that will have both the UPM and UNISSA logos. PPUPM will have the chance to select an appropriate manuscript from among those that UNISSA will arrange. As soon as a title is published, each party can proceed with their own sales.
Negotiations with KUPU SB were successful when KUPU SB agreed to establish a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with UPM. The topic focuses on the organisation of courses relating to plagiarism and Turn It In. KUPU SB plans to raise the awareness of all lecturers regarding aforesaid issues. In addition, PPUPM has the option of placing KUPU-published books at the UPM Press Centre Bookstore, and PPUPM is permitted to earn a commission on each book sold.
PPUPM's participation in the Brunei Book Fair 2023 is regarded as fruitful in terms of reaching its objectives and encouraging book sales. Genres of books published by PPUPM that have done well and garnered positive reviews are language, education, research, literature and Arabic.
