Putrajaya, 22 APRIL 2025 - The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) celebrated its 20 years’ establishment by launching a special book entitled “Helang Samudera: Perisai Maritim Negara” in a ceremonial event in Putrajaya.
The book launching was done by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, as a sign of strong support to MMEA in managing Malaysian maritime to ensure the safety and security of Malaysian waters.
The Minister of Home Affairs, YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, stated in his speech that the publication of the book is an ultimate acknowledgement to the achievements, dedication, and history of MMEA in managing maritime enforcement tasks, carrying out coastal and air surveillance of Malaysian waters, and performing maritime search and rescue ever since its inception. It also portrayed the professionalism and high commitment of MMEA officers in protecting the Malaysian Maritime Zone.
The event, which was organised by the National Book Development Foundation (NBDF) with MMEA, were attended by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Chief Secretary of Home Affairs Ministry, Datuk Awang Alik Jeman, Deputy Chief Secretary (Security), Dato’ Hj. Abdul Halim Hj. Abdul Rahman, Chief Director of MMEA, Laksamana Maritim Datuk Haji Mohd. Rosli Abdullah, and other Head of Departments and Agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The book, with 180 pages published by the UPM Press Centre, was thrown back in a momentous journey of two decades after the inception of MMEA since 15 February 2005. It showcased high resolution narrative visuals, the actual journey of the maritime operations, and important historical events including successful rescue stories and international engagement.
In order to increase public awareness on the country’s maritime, the book will be available in libraries, education institutions, and also local and international agencies as a mean of reference to the younger generation.
