sometimes normal ICA perfusion is occasionally maintained due to
retrograde flow from the external carotid artery (ECA). Abnormal
blood flow inside collateral channels are a common observation in
both acute and chronic stroke. Intracranial artery stenosis (ICAS)
is commonly associated with acute stroke and significantly more
common, up to 50% of strokes, in Asia. Despite its prevalence and
importance in stroke morbidity and death, ICAS has received less
attention. As the major indicator for prognosis and risk associated
with intracranial atherosclerosis stenosis (ICAS), the burden of
intracranial atherosclerosis is increasing.
