3 October 2022 – The 44^th Malaysian University Staff Sports Tournament (SUKUM 2022) was held from 17 until 24 September 2022 hosted by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

The UPM Women Badminton team managed to reach the quarter finals in the team event held at the Uptown Sports, Bandar Baru Bangi on 18 September 2022. A huge congratulations to Puan Fatimah Abdul Samad from the Editorial and Production Section, UPM Press Centre, who was selected to represent UPM for this event.

Through this tournament, which was being held every two years, the mental endurance and physical fitness of university staff could be improved besides the well-being index. This improvement on the index could provide a ‘peace of mind’ to staff and motivate to work more productively. At the same time, the timely event is in line with the UPM Strategic Plan (2021-2025) of the 5^th Goal – to strengthen institutional governance.

UPM, as the host, won the overall medal standings of SUKUM 2022 with 18 gold, 18 silver and, 15 bronze, beating 19 other universities and the Ministry of Higher Education.
