SERDANG – The Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) conducted an operational benchmarking review to the Universiti Putra Malaysia Press Centre (UPM Press) on August 20, 2024. The visit aimed to explore best practices in publishing and the management of scholarly materials.
A total of 12 representatives from IKIM, including senior officials, attended the visit. The IKIM delegation was led by Dr. Mohd Zaidi Ismail, Deputy Director General of IKIM, and was welcomed by the Director of UPM Press, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohamed Thariq Hameed Sultan, along with UPM Press staff.
IKIM is currently working to upgrade its Publishing Unit into a full-fledged Publishing Division with the ambition to replicate the dynamism found in university publishers. To facilitate this goal, relevant information was gathered during the visit to assess the operational practices of university publishers, which will be submitted to IKIM Management for evaluation.
