SERDANG 27th Sept – UPM Press Bookshop located near He & She Coffee next to the Sultan Abdul Samad Library officially began operations on 27th September 2019 after being inaugurated by Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris, Vice Chancellor of UPM. In conjunction with the opening ceremony, an Author Appreciation Award was also held.

Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini, in her speech congratulated UPM Press for the effort and hard work in establishing a bookshop using self-generated income through book sales and professional publication services. She also emphasised that UPM Press Bookshop will be a compulsory location to be visited by visitors from outside with the collaboration of COSComm.

The event also highlighted the launching of 2018's publications and eBook@Penerbit UPM application.  

The event was then followed by an Authors' Appreciation Award as symbolic recognition and appreciation to authors of books and journal articles published by UPM Press for the contribution of knowledge in the form of academic writings that benefits the university and community outside.

A special acknowledgement award was presented to the late Tuan Haji Mokhtar Tohar, the author who made a major contribution in producing books related to etiquette and protocol in event management. The award was received by his wife.  

As apart of the university’s CSR project five schools around Seri Serdang area were chosen to receive contributions in the form of books; Sek. Men. Keb Seri Indah, Sek Men. Keb Sri Serdang, Sek. Men. Keb Bandar Seri Putra, Sek. Jenis Keb. (Tamil) Serdang dan Sek. Jenis Keb. (Cina) Serdang Baru 2.

Finally, the visitors were invited to visit the newly opened bookshop.
